Stuart Florida offers several great camping options. One of my favorite is the St Lucie Lock Recreation Area and I give this one a thumbs up!
This campground is a small quiet spot on the banks of the canal/lock where you can watch the boats and manatees go by. I was told that the campground is fully booked 6 months out for the RV sites but there are usually always tent sites available. The road is paved throughout the campground. There are 9 Rv and 8 boat sites with electric and water hookups. Those sites are paved. They also have 3 tent sites on grassy areas right on the bank of the canal/lock. The tent sites do not have any hookups. Parking for the tent sites is just across from the site on the paved parking area. All sites have picnic tables and fire rings. The campground also offers a large pavillion, play ground, fishing pier, boat ramp, dock, dump station, showers and restrooms. Pets are allowed but must be kept on leashes.
There is a wonderful visitor center with all kinds of boating safety information and activities for the kids. I recommend stopping in and looking around.
You can reserve your site up to 180 days in advance and you can stay 14 days in any 30 consecutive day period. The campground is open year-round.
Currently the rates are $30 a day for RV and Boat sites and $25 a day for tent sites.
Golden Age and Golden Access Passport and America the Beautiful Senior and Access passes are accepted and they currently offer discounts to those passholders.
