While you are visiting Helen Georgia be sure to stop at this historic farm site. It is open to the public and they offer a wonderful guided tour that is well worth the small tour fee. You will learn interesting facts about the area and the people that owned and worked the land and tour the inside of the house and see Anna Ruby Falls namesake’s room. Be sure to see the outdoor kitchen, icehouse, dairy, stables, and caretakers house as well. A part of the farm and across from the Mansion is the Sautee Nacoochee Indian Burial Mound. A gazebo sits on top of the mound in the middle of a cow pasture. It’s a beautiful picture to be sure. The farm also sits on a portion of the Unicoi Turnpike which was a buffalo trail and a trading route for Native Americans. You can also hike the trail that runs from the farm and down into Helen. I highly recommend stopping here and taking the guided or self guided walking tour.
